Monday is the last day to register to vote in Florida’s next primary election, and in just 15 days, early voting will begin in Jacksonville.
The deadline to register to vote is Monday, July 25th. Voters will cast their ballots on August 23rd.
Florida is a closed primary state and voters must vote within their registered party’s affiliation.
Voters can visit the Supervisor of Elections Office or through their local library or Tax Collector’s office to register or update their current registration information.
There are many races and several will have a final winner declared by this primary. Vote-by-mail ballots have been sent out and some voters have been told they need to update their identification.
Registering or updating is easy online through the Florida Department of State’s website at RegisterToVoteFlorida.gov.
To submit an application online, you will need:
- Your Florida driver license (Florida DL) or Florida identification card (Florida ID card) issued by the Florida Department of Highway Safety & Motor Vehicles.
- The issued date of your Florida DL or Florida ID card; and
- The last four digits of your Social Security Number (SSN4).
To be eligible to register to vote you must:
- Be a citizen of the United States of America;
- Be a legal resident of Florida;
- Be a legal resident of the county in which you seek to be registered;
- Be at least 16 years old to preregister or at least 18 years old to register and vote;
- Not be a person who has been adjudicated mentally incapacitated with respect to voting in Florida or any other state without having the right to vote restored; and,
- Not be a person convicted of a felony without having your right to vote restored.
